Douglas Cowling Chair

Douglas DC-8 Engine Cowling

Sharp intake of breath! This eye-popping chair has been ingeniously formed from the engine cowling of a Douglas DC-8, often viewed as a strong airline competitor to the mighty Boeing 707 in the 60s and 70s. This particular aircraft had a 45-year career from 1971, starting with Alitalia Airlines. Unsurprisingly this gives the piece a sense of Italian panache.

When we looked to create a chair from this engine part we bisected, stripped and polished it to a mirror shine finish, then fitted it with a bespoke red leather seat base and a curved padded leather back. Leather end caps with piping detail and a matching padded kick plate provide the finishing touches. We think the end result is a modern masterpiece.  We also offer the following options to make this chair unique to you: custom leather, vinyl wrapping, remote controlled LED lights, corporate logos.
