Boeing 747 Wheel Hub Table
This unsung hero of the extraordinary Jumbo Jet, the wheel hub of the 747 is a triumph of engineering in itself. We have transformed it into a stunning piece of statement furniture through creative artistry and painstaking craftmanship.
The wheel has been fully stripped back, then every nook and cranny has been hand- sanded and polished to a breath taking mirror finish. Each individual bolt was polished and finished with 24k gold plating to add that extra bit of finesse. Finally, the table surface was created from polished-edge, toughened glass round, 20mm thick, with a diameter of 890mm (c2'11"). We can’t think of a better retirement for such a vital piece of the aircraft after a lifetime of transporting millions of passengers.
