Coffin Case
Imagine Harlem, New York, in the Roaring Twenties. You’re in the Cotton Club in the height of the Jazz Age, and the place is jumpin’. If a sharp-suited cat carrying a case like this breezed in, you could bet your bottom dollar he hadn’t come to play fiddle with Duke Ellington’s house band. This goon was packing heat and intent on squirting metal around the joint. He’s from Capone’s chopper squad and unless you want to leave in a meat wagon or a Chicago overcoat, you’d better blow before he burns powder.
Inside the aptly-named ‘coffin case’ was where a prohibition-era hood would hide his bean-shooter – or so Hollywood would have us believe. We thought this icon of gangster folklore would make a fitting display case for your weapon of choice, be it an AK-47, a Walther PPK or a Chicago Typewriter (a Tommy Gun, in case you were wondering). A genuine vintage wooden violin case is filled with customised, form-fitting foam and lined with plush velvet available in Royal Blue, Crimson Red or Emerald Green. The firearm is reflected by a convex mirror in polished silver or bronze built into the lid, enhancing the display’s visual appeal.
